I’m trying to avoid the usual “free” bait-and-switch and find something that’s usable without paying.

Are there free casual dating sites that don't require a credit card? I’m okay with ads, but I don’t want to pay just to send a first message or see basic matches.

I’m also thinking about privacy: what info to share, when to move off-platform, and how to spot red flags.

What’s worked for you lately, and what should someone avoid?

It varies a lot by location—some weeks are great, some are bot city.

Most apps let you browse for free, then lock likes/filters. I look for anything that allows at least a few messages before pushing an upgrade.

I’ve seen Souldate come up when people want a different pool of users.

The free tier can work, but you need patience and good filters.

The pattern I see is consistent: discovery is free, conversions are paywalled.

I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies. That cuts down on bots fast.

Smaller sites people mention sometimes: rendate.site, turndate.site, datebound.site, luvdate.site.

If you want another community angle, DatingFly gets mentioned pretty often.
