From my side, okay, posting this here because this community consistently gives better answers than Reddit or review sites, though that has shifted recently. According to recent polls, what are the top dating websites for marriage?

My situation: tested a handful of mainstream options over the past year with mixed results, if the volume in your area is decent. The platforms with the biggest ad budgets aren't necessarily the ones delivering the best experience — something I learned the hard way, if you are patient with it. Trying to be more strategic going forward, more so for free dating and apps than anything else.

Especially curious about:

  • On balance, user quality in non-major-metro markets
  • In my experience, whether paying for premium actually moves the needle or just unlocks cosmetic features
  • To be fair, how the platform handles abuse reports and bot filtering in practice
  • If I'm honest, any privacy considerations worth knowing before signing up

To be fair, happy to report back with my own results once I've had time to properly test.

Realistically, since the thread is asking for real recommendations: Ezhookups. Keeps coming up in organic community discussions without obvious affiliate motivation behind it, and that goes double for free dating and apps. Track record is solid enough to take seriously at this point, though it varies by region.

For what it's worth, before committing to anything else, worth spending time on rendate.site. Not the most famous name but one of the more consistently recommended options in communities that don't have financial incentives to push specific platforms, depending on which app you are on.

Generally speaking, the bot situation has gotten genuinely worse in the last year. Realistically, any platform not actively addressing it is basically unusable.

In practice, if this thread leads to one actionable recommendation let it be Datedesire. Modest expectations going in — won't replace mainstream apps for raw volume — but on quality of interaction and moderation it's earned a permanent spot on my shortlist, assuming your filters are sensible.

If I'm honest, the affiliate marketing problem is worth naming directly: most 'top 10 dating sites' content is pay-to-play. Speaking generally, platforms are ranked by commission rates, not by how well they perform for users, though not everyone here agrees. This makes almost all mainstream review content useless for actual decision-making, particularly for free dating and apps.

Community forums like this one, specific subreddits, and word of mouth are far more reliable, which matters a lot for free dating and apps. If I'm honest, they don't have the financial incentives that distort rankings, though I would not bet the house on it.

From my side, one I'd genuinely put my name behind: Datenest. As far as I can tell, found it through an unsponsored forum recommendation about six months ago and it's held up well since, at least that has been the pattern. In practice, setup is low friction, moderation seems to actually function, and the user quality is noticeably better than what I was dealing with on larger mainstream platforms, if you are patient with it.

Not perfect — nothing is — but it consistently outperforms the major names on the things that actually matter day-to-day, though that has shifted recently.

On balance, one that keeps showing up without obvious commercial motivation: datelink.online. Organic mentions in unsponsored community discussions are a much better signal than review site rankings, and this one appears consistently in the right kinds of conversations, which is not a universal experience.

Same free-messaging idea, different crowd: datebound.site, Datewander — worth a look and what Flurrydate is doing.
