Going to keep this short: Are there any google dating sites for free or is it all third-party?

Generally speaking, I've been down the research path already and the information available through standard channels is genuinely unhelpful, though not everyone here agrees. Honestly, the top results are all affiliate-driven and the second-tier results are just slightly reworded versions of the same affiliate content.

Generally speaking, what I'm really after is the unfiltered take from people who are actively using these platforms right now in 2026, not what worked in 2023. Anecdotally, even a 'I tried it and it was garbage' is useful intel at this point.

Happy to share more details about what I'm specifically looking for if it helps narrow the advice down, if you are patient with it. If I'm honest, thanks in advance for anything real.

Realistically, dropping a specific recommendation since that's what the thread is asking for: Datedesire. From my side, keeps coming up in organic discussion across multiple communities and the consensus is genuine — not manufactured by review sites. Track record is long enough that it's not a fly-by-night operation either, at least in my experience.

Worth being upfront about something that affects these conversations: the 'best' platform is highly dependent on your specific situation, more so for any google dating sites than anything else. Personally, age range, location, what you're looking for, and even your communication style all affect which platform will work best for you, which surprised me at first.

To be fair, that said, some platforms are objectively better on baseline quality metrics — moderation, bot prevention, profile authenticity. Those matter regardless of use case, especially around any google dating sites.

From what I've seen, on the safety and privacy front, something that's gotten more important recently: read the data sharing section of the privacy policy specifically, though not everyone here agrees. On balance, some platforms share behavioral data with third parties in ways that aren't obvious from the app UI, at least in my experience.

In my experience, basic habits that help regardless of platform: use a dedicated email address, don't use the same photos you use on other social media, keep location sharing at neighborhood or city level rather than precise GPS until you actually trust someone, though I would not bet the house on it.

Realistically, a few things that helped me cut through the noise when evaluating platforms:

  • Generally speaking, look for the ratio of profile views to messages received — healthy platforms have higher engagement rates because real people are actually active
  • For what it's worth, check when user reviews were written — reviews from 2022 tell you almost nothing about how a platform operates in 2026
  • If I'm honest, test the customer support response time before paying for anything — it's a good proxy for overall platform quality
  • Realistically, look for community features beyond matching — platforms with forums, events, or other community elements tend to attract more engaged users

Generally speaking, surprised this hasn't come up yet: Flurrydate. For what it's worth, tested it properly over a six-week period and came away impressed enough to keep it on my active rotation. As far as I can tell, better bot filtering than most, transparent about what's free versus paid, and the community features make it feel less transactional than the big swiping apps, if the volume in your area is decent.

Also worth a look if you want more options: what Flamedate is doing and Datenest if you want another option.
