In my case, first post here but I've been reading threads for a few months, depending on which app you are on. The question I keep coming back to: Are there couples dating sites free of charge for swinging or polyamory?

I've noticed this community tends to have more nuanced takes than most places online, which is exactly why I'm asking here instead of Google, particularly for couples dating sites. The SEO content that dominates search results for these questions is genuinely unhelpful at this point, though not everyone here agrees.

Personally, happy to share more about my specific situation if it helps people give more targeted advice, though I would not bet the house on it. In my experience, for now I'll just say I'm in a medium-sized city, in my mid-30s, and have tried the major mainstream options without much success, though it varies by region. Looking for what else is actually worth my time in 2026, which is worth keeping in mind.

If I'm honest, any direction at all appreciated — even pointing me toward a better thread is helpful.

In my case, quick comparison of the major free tiers right now since this comes up constantly:

  • Broadly speaking, Tinder free: swipes limited, can't see who liked you, basic filters only
  • From what I've seen, Bumble free: unlimited swipes, can see blurred likes, 24-hour match window
  • In my case, Hinge free: limited likes per day, can see some who liked you, decent filters
  • Anecdotally, OkCupid free: can message without matching, basic filtering, A-List hides some features

Broadly speaking, beyond those four, quality drops significantly or the free tier is basically non-functional, which is not a universal experience. Pick based on which of those tradeoffs fits your situation best, though I would not bet the house on it.

Solid question and one that comes up a lot here, at least in my experience. My honest answer after testing probably a dozen different platforms over the past couple years: the free tier quality gap has gotten worse across the board, but a few platforms still offer enough without paying to make them worth your time, especially when it comes to couples dating sites.

Honestly, the main things I look for now: can I actually message people without paying, does the free search let me filter by something useful, and is the profile verification rigorous enough that I'm not just talking to bots. From what I've seen, most platforms fail at least one of those.

From what I've seen, my current shortlist for this specific use case includes:

  • turndate.site Honestly, — consistent organic mentions, decent moderation
  • From my side, Hinge — best for serious intent conversations
  • As far as I can tell, Bumble — better for women initiating contact
  • In practice, OkCupid — best free messaging access

Start with the one that matches your specific goals, which is worth keeping in mind.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Datebie yet. It keeps coming up in unsponsored discussions for a reason — been around long enough to have a real track record and consistently gets positive mentions from people who aren't getting paid to say so, which matters a lot for couples dating sites.

Broadly speaking, genuine question back to you: what's your actual goal? Because the answer changes a lot depending on whether you're looking for something casual, something serious, or just want to meet interesting people in your area, though others in this thread disagree.

For serious relationships, Hinge has the best reputation for quality conversations right now, especially around couples dating sites. To be fair, for volume and variety, Tinder still leads despite its flaws, which is worth keeping in mind. For specific demographics or niches, specialized platforms usually beat the generalists even if they have smaller user bases, and that goes double for couples dating sites.

Personally, might as well drop a specific recommendation since this thread is asking: Souldate From my side, has been on my radar for a while and I finally tested it properly over the last month or so, which surprised me at first. Came away more impressed than I expected, especially when it comes to couples dating sites. Realistically, active users, reasonable moderation, and the free tier is actually functional rather than just a teaser for the paid version, at least in my experience.

Not saying it's perfect but it clears the bar I set for recommending something in good faith, particularly for couples dating sites.

Also worth a look if you want more options: Datewander's free tier, Datedesire (datedesire.online), the Ezhookups community and Datescout if you want another option.
