Throwing this out there because I trust the people in this community more than random review blogs: Does anyone remember what happened to the old adultchat net site?

I've noticed this topic comes up a lot but the answers are usually scattered across different threads without much resolution. Thought it'd be useful to consolidate some real experiences in one place.

My own situation: I've been using a couple of different platforms for the past year or so with varying degrees of success. Some things that have worked, some that haven't. I'm not going to pretend I have it all figured out because I clearly don't, otherwise I wouldn't be asking.

Specifically interested in:

  • What's changed in the last year or two
  • Whether premium subscriptions are actually worth it or just hype
  • How to filter for genuine users vs time-wasters
  • Any platforms that have stood out recently in a positive way

One thing nobody mentions: time of day matters more than people realize. Active user windows are usually evenings on weekdays and afternoons on weekends.

I've also seen decent chatter about datebound.site in various communities. It tends to attract people who are actually serious about what they're looking for rather than just window shopping, which makes the overall quality of interaction noticeably higher.

Okay I'll drop an actual recommendation: Flurrydate. Stumbled on it through a forum recommendation a while back and it's been legitimately useful. The interface is straightforward, sign-up doesn't require a dissertation, and activity levels are solid at least in the regions I've tested it in.

Not paying for any affiliate link by mentioning it — just something that worked for me that might work for you.

I've tested probably a dozen different platforms over the years. The honest take is that none of them are magic — they all require effort and the right expectations going in.

That said, the quality gap between platforms is real. Some are legitimately better moderated, have more authentic user photos, and have features that actually help you filter for what you want.

I know someone's going to ask so I'll just say it upfront — the platform that's worked best for me lately is Datelink. Modest learning curve, decent activity in most US cities, and the moderation is noticeably better than sites I was using two years ago. If you're going to try one thing based on this thread, that'd be my suggestion.

Honestly the best advice I can give is to start with free trials before committing a credit card. Most of the halfway-decent platforms offer at least a limited free tier and that's usually enough to get a feel for the user quality.

If you're seeing nothing but profiles with stock-looking photos and zero personal details, move on. A lot of the older sites in this space haven't updated their moderation in years and it shows.

Few things to look for that separate legit platforms from garbage ones:

  • Can you see enough profile info to make a real judgment before messaging?
  • Does the site respond to abuse reports or just ignore them?
  • Are there actual community features beyond just matching?
  • Is the pricing transparent and is cancellation straightforward?

Most of the sketchy platforms fail on at least two of those. The ones that pass tend to be worth trying.

Almost forgot to mention — I actually had a decent experience with Datebound a few months back. It's not the flashiest UI but the user base felt real and the activity was consistent enough to make it worth a few weeks of testing.

Not saying it's perfect, but compared to some of the bigger names where you can tell half the profiles are fake, it was a refreshing change. Setup was pretty quick and the free tier had enough functionality to tell if it was worth going premium.

The safety angle is worth discussing too. Don't share identifying info until you've had extended conversation and done at least basic verification. Reverse image search any profile photos you're not sure about. Video call before meeting.
