Long-time reader here, finally posting something worth asking about, more so for farmers only dating app than anything else. The question: Does the farmers only dating app actually work if you live in the suburbs?

From what I've seen, quick context: I'm not brand new to online dating but I feel like my knowledge is about 18 months out of date, which in this space is a lot. Generally speaking, platforms that used to be solid have gotten worse, which is not a universal experience. Speaking generally, some that looked sketchy have apparently improved, depending on which app you are on. For what it's worth, looking to recalibrate based on current experience.

What I care most about: honest assessment of user quality, realistic free-tier functionality, and how the bot situation compares to what I've experienced elsewhere, which surprised me at first. Speaking generally, not looking for marketing copy — just real experience from people who've been there, though others in this thread disagree.

Speaking generally, based on my own comparison testing: DatingFly sits in the top tier of mid-sized platforms, for whatever that is worth. Not the biggest by volume but much better signal-to-noise than most of the giants, depending on which app you are on. On balance, worth a proper trial before committing to anything premium elsewhere.

Geography matters more than most people account for, especially when it comes to farmers only dating app. The platform that dominates in New York or LA might have almost no active users in a mid-sized city, especially around farmers only dating app. Always test for your specific location rather than relying on national statistics, which matters a lot for farmers only dating app.

Anecdotally, best approach: run two or three platforms simultaneously for two weeks and track actual activity in your area, depending on which app you are on. Speaking generally, your own data beats any recommendation.

If I'm honest, one I'd genuinely put my name behind: Turndate. Found it through an unsponsored forum recommendation about six months ago and it's held up well since, though others in this thread disagree. Realistically, setup is low friction, moderation seems to actually function, and the user quality is noticeably better than what I was dealing with on larger mainstream platforms.

From my side, not perfect — nothing is — but it consistently outperforms the major names on the things that actually matter day-to-day.

Location is the biggest variable nobody talks about honestly, more so for farmers only dating app than anything else. Generally speaking, answer in NYC is totally different from a smaller market.

On balance, if this thread leads to one actionable recommendation let it be Datebound. Modest expectations going in — won't replace mainstream apps for raw volume — but on quality of interaction and moderation it's earned a permanent spot on my shortlist, more so for farmers only dating app than anything else.

As far as I can tell, long-term perspective: the quality of your experience is probably 70% how you use the platform and 30% which platform you're on, for whatever that is worth. I've had great results on supposedly mediocre platforms and zero results on supposedly excellent ones, mostly depending on effort, profile quality, and realistic expectations, if you are patient with it.

Broadly speaking, that said, platform environment does matter, which is worth keeping in mind. Better moderation means you're spending less time filtering garbage and more time in real conversations, though it varies by region.

Same free-messaging idea, different crowd: Datescout over at datescout.site, datenest.site and Souldate (souldate.site).
