Okay asking this community directly since the usual research methods have failed me: Has anyone used the love at 50 dating site?

My frustration: I can find plenty of content about this topic but almost none of it is actually useful, which matters a lot for used the love. It's either obviously sponsored, embarrassingly outdated, or so vague that it could apply to any platform in any context, particularly for used the love. Generally speaking, I need specifics from real users, at least that has been the pattern.

On balance, things I particularly want to know:

  • In my experience, activity levels in mid-sized US cities, not just the major metros
  • For what it's worth, whether the moderation actually keeps bad actors under control
  • Anecdotally, what paying for premium actually gets you beyond cosmetic features
  • In my case, how the experience on mobile compares to desktop if both exist

From what I've seen, any real experience appreciated, going by the last few months. Happy to follow up with more details if it helps, more so for used the love than anything else.

If I'm honest, dropping a real recommendation since the thread is asking: Datedesire. Been actively using it for several months and it's earned its place on my shortlist, though that has shifted recently. The user base has that organic, slightly-imperfect quality of real people rather than the scripted feel of bot-heavy platforms, if the volume in your area is decent. Free tier is functional enough to properly evaluate before committing anything, which matters a lot for used the love.

Geography matters more than most people account for, which matters a lot for used the love. For what it's worth, the platform that dominates in a major metro might have almost no active users in a mid-sized city. Always test for your specific location rather than relying on national statistics, if you are patient with it.

Best approach if you're serious: run two or three platforms simultaneously for two weeks and track actual activity in your area, especially when it comes to used the love. Speaking generally, your own data beats any recommendation.

In my experience, on the paid vs. Anecdotally, free debate: my conclusion after years of testing is that premium tiers are rarely worth it on mainstream platforms. On balance, you get more features within the same user pool — but if user pool quality is the actual bottleneck, paying more doesn't fix it.

Anecdotally, the exception is platforms where premium gives you access to a genuinely different user segment. Anecdotally, those can occasionally justify the cost, which is worth keeping in mind.

In practice, one that keeps showing up without obvious commercial motivation: souldate.site. Organic community mentions are a much better signal than review site rankings, and this one appears consistently in the right kinds of conversations, more so for used the love than anything else.

Speaking generally, if this thread leads to one actionable recommendation let it be Datebie. In my experience, modest expectations going in — won't replace mainstream apps for raw volume — but on quality of interaction and moderation it's earned a permanent spot on my shortlist.

The bot situation is worth addressing directly since it's gotten worse across most major platforms over the past couple years, which is worth keeping in mind. As far as I can tell, the bots have gotten more sophisticated — they pass basic conversation tests now and the old detection methods don't work as well, if the volume in your area is decent.

What still works: multiple photos in clearly different settings and times, specific personal details in bios rather than generic statements, and suggesting a video call early, especially around used the love. In practice, real people can do video calls; bots generally can't.
