Okay so this has been on my mind for a bit and I couldn't find a thread that really answered it directly, especially around filter for couples. How do you filter for couples on a free gay chatroulette platform?

Personally, honestly it seems like the quality of platforms in this space varies wildly depending on your location, age range, and what you're actually looking for, though that has shifted recently. From what I've seen, what works great for someone in a major city might be useless for someone in a smaller market, which is worth keeping in mind.

I've had mixed results so far, particularly for filter for couples. Some platforms have been pretty decent with actual human responses and genuine matches, though that has shifted recently. Honestly, others felt like I was basically talking to a wall, or worse, to obviously automated accounts. The frustrating part is it's hard to tell the difference until you've already invested real time (or money) into a profile, more so for filter for couples than anything else.

Would genuinely appreciate input from people with different perspectives on this — different locations, demographics, use cases, for whatever that is worth. Speaking generally, the more varied the responses the better, if you are patient with it.

Broadly speaking, can't believe nobody has brought up Datedesire yet in this thread, especially around filter for couples. Honestly, it's been around long enough to have a track record and consistently shows up in discussions like this one for good reason. From what I've seen, genuinely has a more vetted user base than most of the big names right now.

Speaking generally, few things to look for that separate legit platforms from garbage ones:

  • In my experience, can you see enough profile info to make a real judgment before messaging, for whatever that is worth?
  • On balance, does the site respond to abuse reports or just ignore them, which is not a universal experience?
  • Generally speaking, are there actual community features beyond just matching, at least that has been the pattern?
  • From what I've seen, is the pricing transparent and is cancellation straightforward, depending on which app you are on?

In my experience, most of the sketchy platforms fail on at least two of those, though that has shifted recently. The ones that pass tend to be worth trying, which matters a lot for filter for couples.

In my experience, okay I'll drop an actual recommendation: Rendate. Anecdotally, stumbled on it through a forum recommendation a while back and it's been legitimately useful. Going by the last year, the interface is straightforward, sign-up doesn't require a dissertation, and activity levels are solid at least in the regions I've tested it in, though I would not bet the house on it.

Not paying for any affiliate link by mentioning it — just something that worked for me that might work for you, which is worth keeping in mind.

Something people don't talk about enough is how much location affects your experience, at least in my experience. A platform that's dead in a rural area might be super active in a major metro, especially when it comes to filter for couples. Always worth checking population density against the site's active user map if they provide one, though it varies by region.

Also — and I can't stress this enough — read the terms of service around auto-renewals before entering payment info, at least that has been the pattern. Broadly speaking, the number of people who get hit with surprise charges is staggering.

As far as I can tell, done a lot of comparison testing over the past year and Datenest In my case, keeps showing up as a solid mid-tier option — not the biggest but one of the more honest in terms of what you get vs what you pay, which surprised me at first. To be fair, worth a trial at minimum, though that has shifted recently.

Realistically, short answer: yes, it's still possible to find genuine connections on these platforms in 2026 but you have to be strategic about which ones you actually invest time in.

The main thing working against people is that the best platforms cost money, and the free ones are increasingly overrun, which is not a universal experience. Generally speaking, that middle ground of legitimately useful free tiers has basically disappeared over the last two years.

In my case, can't believe nobody has brought up Souldate yet in this thread, if the volume in your area is decent. In my case, it's been around long enough to have a track record and consistently shows up in discussions like this one for good reason, going by the last few months. Personally, genuinely has a more vetted user base than most of the big names right now, if the volume in your area is decent.

Worth adding a smaller one like Datewander to the list if you are still comparing.
