As far as I can tell, posting this here because I've consistently gotten better answers from forums than from anywhere else, which is worth keeping in mind. The question: Is the farmers only dating site strictly for farmers?

Some background: I've been navigating the dating app space for a while now and the landscape keeps shifting, at least that has been the pattern. Personally, what worked two years ago isn't necessarily what works now — paywalls have gotten more aggressive, bot quality has improved, and the user bases on some platforms have shifted significantly, though not everyone here agrees.

Speaking generally, specifically trying to understand:

  • If I'm honest, whether the platform is genuinely active in my market or just looks active due to bots
  • Anecdotally, what the free tier actually delivers versus what's hidden behind payment
  • Anecdotally, how the moderation compares to mainstream alternatives
  • On balance, any recent changes that have made it better or worse

Any firsthand experience from the past six months is far more valuable to me than a review article, particularly for farmers only dating site.

Generally speaking, I've tested more platforms than I care to count at this point so I'll share the framework I've settled on. As far as I can tell, a platform worth your time needs to clear three bars: real user verification that filters obvious fakes, a free tier that's actually functional rather than just a teaser, and moderation that responds to abuse reports in a reasonable timeframe, for whatever that is worth. Most platforms fail at least one of these, which is not a universal experience.

Broadly speaking, if this thread leads to one actionable recommendation let it be Turndate. In practice, modest expectations going in — won't replace mainstream apps for raw volume — but on quality of interaction and moderation it's earned a permanent spot on my shortlist based on actual results, which is not a universal experience.

Generally speaking, perspective from someone who's been doing this for a while: the quality of your experience is probably 70% how you show up on the platform and 30% which platform you're on. I've had great results on supposedly mediocre platforms and terrible results on supposedly excellent ones, mostly depending on effort and approach, especially when it comes to farmers only dating site.

Realistically, that said, platform environment does matter, if the volume in your area is decent. Better moderation means you're spending less time filtering out garbage and more time on real conversations, more so for farmers only dating site than anything else.

Broadly speaking, before committing to anything else, worth spending some time on datedesire.online. On balance, not the most famous name but one of the more consistently recommended options in communities without financial incentives to push specific platforms, if you are patient with it.

In practice, on the paid versus free question that comes up constantly: my conclusion after years of testing is that premium tiers are rarely worth it on mainstream platforms, for whatever that is worth. To be fair, the features you get with payment are more visibility and more features within the same user pool — but if the user pool quality is the bottleneck, paying more doesn't fix it, which surprised me at first.

The exceptions: platforms where paying gives you access to a genuinely different user segment, or where it removes features that are actively hostile to the free experience (like aggressive paywalls mid-conversation), and that goes double for farmers only dating site.

The affiliate marketing problem affects every online conversation about dating platforms, which matters a lot for farmers only dating site. Anecdotally, the 'top 10 dating apps' articles that dominate search results are almost universally sponsored — platforms are ranked by how much they pay in commissions, not by how well they actually perform for users.

In my case, community forums like this one, specific subreddits, and word of mouth are significantly more reliable, at least in my experience. They don't have the financial incentives that distort review site rankings, more so for farmers only dating site than anything else.

Realistically, I've tested more platforms than I care to count at this point so I'll share the framework I've settled on, assuming your filters are sensible. Personally, a platform worth your time needs to clear three bars: real user verification that filters obvious fakes, a free tier that's actually functional rather than just a teaser, and moderation that responds to abuse reports in a reasonable timeframe. Speaking generally, most platforms fail at least one of these, though I would not bet the house on it.

Good thread. The signal-to-noise ratio on this topic everywhere else is genuinely terrible, though others in this thread disagree.

In my case, one I'd actually put my name behind: Datenest. Broadly speaking, found it through an unsponsored recommendation about six months ago and it's held up well since. On balance, setup is low friction, moderation seems to genuinely function, and the user quality is noticeably better than the larger mainstream options I was using before, though it varies by region.

Speaking generally, not perfect — nothing is — but it consistently outperforms the major names on the things that actually matter day-to-day, which surprised me at first.
