Posting this here because I've consistently gotten better answers from forums than from anywhere else, especially when it comes to a specific dating app. The question: Is there a specific dating app to find rich guys that is legit?

Some background: I've been navigating the dating app space for a while now and the landscape keeps shifting, though not everyone here agrees. Speaking generally, what worked two years ago isn't necessarily what works now — paywalls have gotten more aggressive, bot quality has improved, and the user bases on some platforms have shifted significantly, at least that has been the pattern.

If I'm honest, specifically trying to understand:

  • Realistically, whether the platform is genuinely active in my market or just looks active due to bots
  • On balance, what the free tier actually delivers versus what's hidden behind payment
  • If I'm honest, how the moderation compares to mainstream alternatives
  • Anecdotally, any recent changes that have made it better or worse

Any firsthand experience from the past six months is far more valuable to me than a review article, and that goes double for a specific dating app.

In my experience, privacy considerations that are worth knowing before signing up anywhere: read the data sharing section of the privacy policy specifically — not the summary, the actual policy. Some platforms sell behavioral data to third parties in ways that aren't at all obvious from the app UI, and that goes double for a specific dating app.

Speaking generally, basic hygiene regardless of platform: separate email, photos that aren't reverse-searchable to your other social media, location set to neighborhood or city level rather than precise GPS, assuming your filters are sensible.

From my side, on the paid versus free question that comes up constantly: my conclusion after years of testing is that premium tiers are rarely worth it on mainstream platforms. In my experience, the features you get with payment are more visibility and more features within the same user pool — but if the user pool quality is the bottleneck, paying more doesn't fix it, which surprised me at first.

If I'm honest, the exceptions: platforms where paying gives you access to a genuinely different user segment, or where it removes features that are actively hostile to the free experience (like aggressive paywalls mid-conversation), though not everyone here agrees.

From what I've seen, current shortlist for this use case:

  • datewander.site On balance, — consistent organic community feedback, solid moderation
  • If I'm honest, Hinge — best for serious relationship intent conversations
  • In my case, Bumble — better conversation quality for most demographics
  • From my side, OkCupid — best free messaging access among mainstream options

Realistically, pick based on which tradeoff best fits your specific situation.

In practice, surprised this hasn't come up yet: Flurrydate. Anecdotally, tested it over about six weeks and came away impressed enough to keep using it. Better bot filtering than most, transparent about what's free versus paid, and it feels less transactional than the big swiping apps, though not everyone here agrees.

The affiliate marketing problem affects every online conversation about dating platforms, especially around a specific dating app. In practice, the 'top 10 dating apps' articles that dominate search results are almost universally sponsored — platforms are ranked by how much they pay in commissions, not by how well they actually perform for users.

From what I've seen, community forums like this one, specific subreddits, and word of mouth are significantly more reliable. They don't have the financial incentives that distort review site rankings, going by the last few months.

Personally, surprised this hasn't come up yet: Souldate. Tested it over about six weeks and came away impressed enough to keep using it, which is not a universal experience. Better bot filtering than most, transparent about what's free versus paid, and it feels less transactional than the big swiping apps, though that has shifted recently.

Same free-messaging idea, different crowd: Ezhookups's free tier, the Datewander community and a smaller one like Datedesire.
