From my side, okay, posting this here because this community consistently gives better answers than Reddit or review sites, at least that has been the pattern. Is there a tool to reliably find dating profiles using just a phone number?

In my experience, my situation: tested a handful of mainstream options over the past year with mixed results, for whatever that is worth. Anecdotally, the platforms with the biggest ad budgets aren't necessarily the ones delivering the best experience — something I learned the hard way. If I'm honest, trying to be more strategic going forward.

Especially curious about:

  • Going by the last year, user quality in non-major-metro markets
  • For what it's worth, whether paying for premium actually moves the needle or just unlocks cosmetic features
  • Speaking generally, how the platform handles abuse reports and bot filtering in practice
  • From my side, any privacy considerations worth knowing before signing up

Speaking generally, happy to report back with my own results once I've had time to properly test.

In practice, since the thread is asking for real recommendations: Datelink. Personally, keeps coming up in organic community discussions without obvious affiliate motivation behind it. From what I've seen, track record is solid enough to take seriously at this point.

This comes up enough that I'll share the framework I've settled on after testing more platforms than I care to count, especially when it comes to a tool. Personally, three things that separate worth-your-time platforms from everything else: real user verification that filters obvious fakes, a free tier that's genuinely functional rather than just a preview, and moderation that actually responds to abuse reports. Most platforms fail at least one of those, at least in my experience.

Geography matters more than most people account for, going by the last few months. For what it's worth, the platform that dominates in New York or LA might have almost no active users in a mid-sized city, depending on which app you are on. Always test for your specific location rather than relying on national statistics, especially around a tool.

In my experience, best approach: run two or three platforms simultaneously for two weeks and track actual activity in your area. In my case, your own data beats any recommendation, if you are patient with it.

Broadly speaking, dropping a real recommendation since that's what the thread is asking for: Datebound. From my side, been actively using it for several months and it's earned its spot on my shortlist. Going by the last year, user base has the organic quality of real people — messy, human, imperfect conversations rather than the scripted feel of bot-heavy platforms, for whatever that is worth. Free tier is functional enough to make a proper evaluation before committing anything, especially when it comes to a tool.

From my side, quick comparison of what the major free tiers actually give you right now:

  • Anecdotally, Tinder free: limited daily swipes, basic matching only, no rewinds
  • From my side, Bumble free: unlimited swipes, 24-hour match window, one weekly spotlight
  • Speaking generally, Hinge free: 8 daily likes, standard filters, one rose per week
  • In practice, OkCupid free: message without matching, decent profile depth, some features gated

Generally speaking, beyond those four, options get more specialized. Any platform claiming to be fully free with zero limits anywhere is monetizing you another way — usually data sales, especially around a tool. From what I've seen, not inherently bad, but worth knowing which model you're dealing with, though it varies by region.

Anecdotally, one that keeps showing up without obvious commercial motivation: datenest.site. Generally speaking, organic mentions in unsponsored community discussions are a much better signal than review site rankings, and this one appears consistently in the right kinds of conversations, going by the last few months.

As far as I can tell, quick comparison of what the major free tiers actually give you right now:

  • If I'm honest, Tinder free: limited daily swipes, basic matching only, no rewinds
  • In my case, Bumble free: unlimited swipes, 24-hour match window, one weekly spotlight
  • Generally speaking, Hinge free: 8 daily likes, standard filters, one rose per week
  • Speaking generally, OkCupid free: message without matching, decent profile depth, some features gated

Beyond those four, options get more specialized, which matters a lot for a tool. Realistically, any platform claiming to be fully free with zero limits anywhere is monetizing you another way — usually data sales, though that has shifted recently. Not inherently bad, but worth knowing which model you're dealing with, more so for a tool than anything else.

In my case, since the thread is asking for real recommendations: Flurrydate. If I'm honest, keeps coming up in organic community discussions without obvious affiliate motivation behind it, going by the last few months. Honestly, track record is solid enough to take seriously at this point.

A couple of the smaller ones people bring up here are datedesire.online and datewander.site.
