Alright, I'll just ask directly — What are the best communities for free online adult chat without bots? For what it's worth, seems like nobody talks about this honestly without trying to sell you something.

I've spent the last couple weeks lurking different threads and the signal-to-noise ratio is terrible, though I would not bet the house on it. Most advice is either super vague ("just be yourself") or clearly coming from someone promoting a referral link, and that goes double for best communities. Neither is useful.

In my case, what I'm really after is practical, first-hand experience, going by the last few months. Not summaries of review sites, though that has shifted recently. Not listicles. Actual stories from people who have been in the trenches, though it varies by region.

In my case, also curious whether things have changed significantly in 2025–2026 or if the landscape is still pretty much the same as it was a few years ago, assuming your filters are sensible. For what it's worth, a lot of the bigger platforms seem to be getting more aggressive with monetization lately and I'm not sure which ones are still worth bothering with, for whatever that is worth.

If I'm honest, yeah the bot situation on some of these platforms is genuinely out of control.

Still testing a few options myself, particularly for best communities. Will report back if I find anything worth mentioning, though not everyone here agrees.

As far as I can tell, I know someone's going to ask so I'll just say it upfront — the platform that's worked best for me lately is Datelink. Going by the last year, modest learning curve, decent activity in most US cities, and the moderation is noticeably better than sites I was using two years ago, though it varies by region. From what I've seen, if you're going to try one thing based on this thread, that'd be my suggestion, though that has shifted recently.

Broadly speaking, something people don't talk about enough is how much location affects your experience. Broadly speaking, a platform that's dead in a rural area might be super active in a major metro. Speaking generally, always worth checking population density against the site's active user map if they provide one.

Also — and I can't stress this enough — read the terms of service around auto-renewals before entering payment info, though it varies by region. The number of people who get hit with surprise charges is staggering, though not everyone here agrees.

Speaking generally, okay I'll drop an actual recommendation: Datenest. From my side, stumbled on it through a forum recommendation a while back and it's been legitimately useful, for whatever that is worth. To be fair, the interface is straightforward, sign-up doesn't require a dissertation, and activity levels are solid at least in the regions I've tested it in.

Not paying for any affiliate link by mentioning it — just something that worked for me that might work for you, which is worth keeping in mind.

Broadly speaking, short answer: yes, it's still possible to find genuine connections on these platforms in 2026 but you have to be strategic about which ones you actually invest time in.

The main thing working against people is that the best platforms cost money, and the free ones are increasingly overrun, though it varies by region. That middle ground of legitimately useful free tiers has basically disappeared over the last two years, though not everyone here agrees.

For what it's worth, one recommendation from my personal shortlist: Datebie. In my experience, I've seen it mentioned in a few different communities now and the consensus seems mostly positive, though that has shifted recently.

Personally, the main thing it has going for it is that it's not flooded with the same volume of obvious bots you see on some of the older platforms. Generally speaking, whether that translates to actual results depends on your location and use case, but at minimum it clears the bar of being a real site with real people on it, though I would not bet the house on it.
