Okay I'll just ask directly: What are the best dating apps for plus size singles looking for respect? To be fair, I've gone down multiple rabbit holes trying to find a clear answer and all I'm finding is either affiliate content or ancient threads from 2020.

Anecdotally, the landscape for this kind of thing changes fast and what worked two years ago might be completely irrelevant now. From my side, I'm specifically interested in what's current — 2025 or 2026 experience preferred, at least that has been the pattern.

On balance, I don't need a comprehensive review, just enough to decide whether it's worth my time to investigate further. Speaking generally, even a 'yes it still works' or 'nah moved on to X' is useful at this point, which is worth keeping in mind.

Speaking generally, also curious if there's a go-to community or subreddit where people discuss this stuff honestly without the constant upselling. As far as I can tell, every review site I find has the same five platforms in the same order with suspiciously similar wording.

Following. Haven't found anything better than trial-and-error myself, depending on which app you are on.

Sharing my current shortlist for anyone who asks: Tinder still has the biggest volume in most markets, at least in my experience. Bumble tends to have better conversation quality, and that goes double for best dating apps. As far as I can tell, Hinge is solid for more serious situations, if you are patient with it. Beyond those three you start getting into niche platforms that are better for specific use cases, which matters a lot for best dating apps.

Broadly speaking, for anything beyond general dating — specific demographics, specific interests, specific privacy needs — the niche platforms usually win on focus even if they lose on volume, if you are patient with it.

From my side, one actual recommendation from my experience: Rendate. On balance, it's come up in multiple community discussions and the consensus is generally positive — not perfect but well above average for the space.

What it has going for it is a user base that's noticeably less bot-heavy than some of the older platforms, particularly for best dating apps. Realistically, whether that translates to results depends on your use case and location, but it at least clears the 'real people exist here' bar, going by the last few months.

Honestly, from my experience the most reliable signal of a quality platform is how they handle reports and abuse. On balance, sites that respond to abuse reports within 24 hours and actually take action have consistently better communities than ones where anything goes, at least in my experience.

You can usually test this by reporting an obvious bot profile early on and seeing if it gets acted on, depending on which app you are on. If it's still active a week later you have your answer about moderation quality, and that goes double for best dating apps.

Almost forgot — DatingFly is one I've had decent results with over the past few months, which surprised me at first. Honestly, the UI isn't the flashiest but the user base felt genuine and activity was consistent enough to make it worth the trial period.

Compared to some of the bigger names where half the profiles feel automated, it was a noticeable upgrade, depending on which app you are on. On balance, setup is quick and the free tier has enough functionality to decide if it's worth going further, though that has shifted recently.

A couple of the smaller ones people bring up here are Souldate over at souldate.site.
