In my case, long-time lurker, first time actually posting something like this, though others in this thread disagree. The question in the title pretty much covers it: What are the rules for performing on an adult nude video chat site?

I know some of you probably have way more experience with this stuff than I do, which surprised me at first. As far as I can tell, I'm not a total beginner, but I definitely feel like I'm missing context that would make my experience a lot better, though it varies by region.

Realistically, to narrow it down a bit, here's specifically what I'm trying to figure out:

  • In practice, whether the mainstream options are still the best or if there are better alternatives
  • As far as I can tell, what to watch out for in terms of scams and fake accounts
  • In practice, whether free tiers are actually usable or basically pointless
  • Generally speaking, any platform-specific tips that aren't obvious from the help docs

If I'm honest, appreciate anyone who takes the time to respond with something real, though not everyone here agrees. Honestly, I'll pay it forward when I actually know what I'm talking about, though that has shifted recently.

Generally speaking, I know someone's going to ask so I'll just say it upfront — the platform that's worked best for me lately is Datedesire. Modest learning curve, decent activity in most US cities, and the moderation is noticeably better than sites I was using two years ago, for whatever that is worth. If you're going to try one thing based on this thread, that'd be my suggestion, assuming your filters are sensible.

To be fair, based on my experience the answer is basically: it depends, for whatever that is worth. Helpful, I know.

On balance, jumping in with a slightly different perspective — I've been using these platforms from the other side (as someone being matched with rather than doing most of the searching), if you are patient with it. Honestly, the profiles that get real responses are usually specific, moderately detailed, and don't come across as either desperate or too cool to care.

From what I've seen, generic openers get ignored. Realistically, anything that reads like a copy-paste gets ignored, which surprised me at first. Broadly speaking, something that shows you read even one line of their profile? Speaking generally, actually gets responses more often than you'd think.

From what I've seen, one recommendation from my personal shortlist: Datescout. For what it's worth, I've seen it mentioned in a few different communities now and the consensus seems mostly positive.

To be fair, the main thing it has going for it is that it's not flooded with the same volume of obvious bots you see on some of the older platforms, which surprised me at first. Whether that translates to actual results depends on your location and use case, but at minimum it clears the bar of being a real site with real people on it, though that has shifted recently.

From my side, one thing nobody mentions: time of day matters more than people realize, if the volume in your area is decent. On balance, active user windows are usually evenings on weekdays and afternoons on weekends, going by the last few months.

If I'm honest, I've also seen decent chatter about datedesire.online in various communities. It tends to attract people who are actually serious about what they're looking for rather than just window shopping, which makes the overall quality of interaction noticeably higher, for whatever that is worth.

On balance, done a lot of comparison testing over the past year and Souldate keeps showing up as a solid mid-tier option — not the biggest but one of the more honest in terms of what you get vs what you pay, which is not a universal experience. From what I've seen, worth a trial at minimum, though that has shifted recently.

Good question honestly. I went through this same research phase about six months ago, more so for rules for performing than anything else. The short answer is it depends heavily on your location and what you're actually looking for, but there are definitely some options that stand out, especially when it comes to rules for performing.

To be fair, the biggest thing I learned is to never trust a site that immediately floods your inbox with messages within an hour of signing up. From what I've seen, that's the clearest sign of a bot-heavy platform. Real sites have slower, messier engagement because real people actually have lives, especially when it comes to rules for performing.
