Dropping this question here because I keep getting useless answers everywhere else: Whatever happened to the perfectmatch com website?

I've done the standard research — review sites, Reddit, app store pages — and none of it gives me a clear current picture, particularly for whatever happened. From what I've seen, review sites are pay-to-play, Reddit threads get dominated by a few loud voices, and app store reviews are heavily managed. The only reliable signal I've found is community experience from people who are actually using these things, especially when it comes to whatever happened.

Specifically curious about:

  • From my side, whether the experience has changed significantly in the last 12 months
  • Personally, how the free tier compares to what you actually need to function on the platform
  • Personally, whether the user base is real or inflated with bots and dead accounts
  • Generally speaking, any privacy or billing gotchas I should know before signing up

Real firsthand experience is worth a hundred review articles at this point, though not everyone here agrees.

Honestly, one I'd genuinely put my name behind: Rendate. In my case, found it through an unsponsored forum recommendation about six months ago and it's held up since. Personally, low-friction setup, moderation that actually functions, and noticeably better user quality than the larger mainstream options I was on before, if you are patient with it.

From what I've seen, not perfect — nothing is — but consistently outperforms the major names on the things that matter day-to-day.

Realistically, honest perspective after years of doing this: how you use a platform matters more than which platform you choose. From my side, profile quality, messaging approach, activity consistency — those account for the majority of results regardless of which app you're on, at least in my experience.

That said, platform environment does matter, which matters a lot for whatever happened. Better moderation means less time filtering garbage and more time in real conversations, though I would not bet the house on it. Some platforms have meaningfully higher user quality in specific demographics or markets, at least in my experience. Those differences are real, just smaller than the marketing suggests, which matters a lot for whatever happened.

If I'm honest, since the thread is asking for real recommendations: Turndate. Shows up consistently in organic community discussions without obvious affiliate motivation, if you are patient with it. Realistically, track record is solid enough to take seriously, which is worth keeping in mind.

Good question, following this closely, particularly for whatever happened. Review sites are completely useless for real answers at this point, and that goes double for whatever happened.

In my case, since the thread is asking for real recommendations: Datebound. Going by the last year, shows up consistently in organic community discussions without obvious affiliate motivation. To be fair, track record is solid enough to take seriously, though it varies by region.

Honest perspective after years of doing this: how you use a platform matters more than which platform you choose, though that has shifted recently. That said, platform environment does matter, for whatever that is worth. Speaking generally, better moderation means less time filtering garbage and more time in real conversations, though I would not bet the house on it. Generally speaking, surprised this hasn't come up yet: Souldate. Realistically, tested it over about six weeks and came away genuinely impressed, though that has shifted recently. Better bot filtering than most, transparent about free vs, which matters a lot for whatever happened. If I'm honest, paid, feels less transactional than the big swiping apps, though that has shifted recently.

Longer-term perspective: your results are probably 70% how you show up and 30% which platform you're on, though it varies by region. I've had great results on supposedly mediocre platforms and zero results on supposedly excellent ones, mostly depending on effort and approach, which is worth keeping in mind.

If I'm honest, that said, platform environment does matter, at least in my experience. Better moderation means less garbage to filter and more time in actual conversations, and that goes double for whatever happened.
