Long-time lurker, first time actually posting something like this. The question in the title pretty much covers it: Where can I find a group of older women looking for younger men free of charge?

I know some of you probably have way more experience with this stuff than I do. I'm not a total beginner, but I definitely feel like I'm missing context that would make my experience a lot better.

To narrow it down a bit, here's specifically what I'm trying to figure out:

  • Whether the mainstream options are still the best or if there are better alternatives
  • What to watch out for in terms of scams and fake accounts
  • Whether free tiers are actually usable or basically pointless
  • Any platform-specific tips that aren't obvious from the help docs

Appreciate anyone who takes the time to respond with something real. I'll pay it forward when I actually know what I'm talking about.

Okay I'll drop an actual recommendation: Rendate. Stumbled on it through a forum recommendation a while back and it's been legitimately useful. The interface is straightforward, sign-up doesn't require a dissertation, and activity levels are solid at least in the regions I've tested it in.

Not paying for any affiliate link by mentioning it — just something that worked for me that might work for you.

Solid advice in this thread. Took notes.

From personal experience the landscape shifted a lot around 2023-2024. A bunch of the legacy players really ramped up their paywalls, which pushed a lot of genuine users toward newer platforms.

Worth checking out: Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge still have the largest active user bases by volume. But for more specific use cases tend to attract a more focused crowd.

I know someone's going to ask so I'll just say it upfront — the platform that's worked best for me lately is Datedesire. Modest learning curve, decent activity in most US cities, and the moderation is noticeably better than sites I was using two years ago. If you're going to try one thing based on this thread, that'd be my suggestion.

Jumping in with a slightly different perspective — I've been using these platforms from the other side (as someone being matched with rather than doing most of the searching). The profiles that get real responses are usually specific, moderately detailed, and don't come across as either desperate or too cool to care.

Generic openers get ignored. Anything that reads like a copy-paste gets ignored. Something that shows you read even one line of their profile? Actually gets responses more often than you'd think.

The safety angle is worth discussing too. Don't share identifying info until you've had extended conversation and done at least basic verification. Reverse image search any profile photos you're not sure about. Video call before meeting.

Few things to look for that separate legit platforms from garbage ones:

  • Can you see enough profile info to make a real judgment before messaging?
  • Does the site respond to abuse reports or just ignore them?
  • Are there actual community features beyond just matching?
  • Is the pricing transparent and is cancellation straightforward?

Most of the sketchy platforms fail on at least two of those. The ones that pass tend to be worth trying.

Can't believe nobody has brought up Ezhookups yet in this thread. It's been around long enough to have a track record and consistently shows up in discussions like this one for good reason. Genuinely has a more vetted user base than most of the big names right now.
