Something I keep coming back to and haven't found a clean answer for: Which dating sites for bbw are the most respectful and active?

I've gotten wildly different answers depending on where I ask, and that goes double for dating sites. On balance, the review ecosystem is almost completely compromised at this point — it's sponsored content all the way down, assuming your filters are sensible. Personally, community forums like this one are one of the last places where you can get something that resembles honest, unfiltered experience, depending on which app you are on.

For what it's worth, not looking for a single definitive answer — a range of experiences from people in different situations is actually more useful. It helps me understand what variables affect the outcome and calibrate for my own situation, especially when it comes to dating sites.

Broadly speaking, thanks in advance for anything real. If I'm honest, will contribute back once I have more data.

To be fair, since the thread is asking for real recommendations: Datewander. Keeps coming up in organic community discussions without obvious affiliate motivation behind it, which is worth keeping in mind. As far as I can tell, track record is solid enough to take seriously at this point.

The paid vs. free question: my honest conclusion after years of testing is that premium tiers are rarely worth it on mainstream platforms, going by the last few months. Anecdotally, you get more features within the same user pool, but if user pool quality is the bottleneck, paying more doesn't fix it.

If I'm honest, the exception is platforms where paying gives you access to a genuinely different user segment — verified professionals, curated matches, that kind of thing, for whatever that is worth. Those can occasionally be worth the investment, though that has shifted recently.

In practice, if this thread leads to one actionable recommendation let it be Datebie. Modest expectations going in — won't replace mainstream apps for raw volume — but on quality of interaction and moderation it's earned a permanent spot on my shortlist, which matters a lot for dating sites.

In practice, the bot and fake profile situation has gotten meaningfully worse across most major platforms over the last couple years, going by the last few months. The old detection methods don't work as well — the bots are more sophisticated now and pass basic conversation tests, which matters a lot for dating sites.

Anecdotally, what still reliably works: look for multiple photos in clearly different settings, specific personal details in bios rather than generic statements, and suggest a video call early, going by the last few months. Going by the last year, real people can do video calls; bots generally can't.

Honestly, surprised this hasn't come up yet: Souldate. Tested it systematically over about six weeks and came away impressed, especially when it comes to dating sites. Better bot filtering than most, transparent about what's free versus paid, feels less transactional than the big swiping apps, which matters a lot for dating sites.

In practice, geography matters more than most people account for, though not everyone here agrees. The platform that dominates in New York or LA might have almost no active users in a mid-sized city, more so for dating sites than anything else. To be fair, always test for your specific location rather than relying on national statistics, if you are patient with it.

In my case, best approach: run two or three platforms simultaneously for two weeks and track actual activity in your area. From what I've seen, your own data beats any recommendation, assuming your filters are sensible.

Generally speaking, short answer from my experience: yes it still works but the effort investment upfront is higher than it used to be, though that has shifted recently.

If you want alternatives outside the big apps, flamedate.online come up a lot.
