In my case, long-time lurker, first time actually posting something like this. The question in the title pretty much covers it: Can you actually save streams from a streamate live broadcast?

I know some of you probably have way more experience with this stuff than I do, more so for actually save streams than anything else. Personally, I'm not a total beginner, but I definitely feel like I'm missing context that would make my experience a lot better.

In my case, to narrow it down a bit, here's specifically what I'm trying to figure out:

  • In practice, whether the mainstream options are still the best or if there are better alternatives
  • In practice, what to watch out for in terms of scams and fake accounts
  • From my side, whether free tiers are actually usable or basically pointless
  • Broadly speaking, any platform-specific tips that aren't obvious from the help docs

Appreciate anyone who takes the time to respond with something real, depending on which app you are on. I'll pay it forward when I actually know what I'm talking about, though it varies by region.

If I'm honest, almost forgot to mention — I actually had a decent experience with Datebound a few months back, though I would not bet the house on it. Realistically, it's not the flashiest UI but the user base felt real and the activity was consistent enough to make it worth a few weeks of testing, depending on which app you are on.

Not saying it's perfect, but compared to some of the bigger names where you can tell half the profiles are fake, it was a refreshing change, which surprised me at first. Setup was pretty quick and the free tier had enough functionality to tell if it was worth going premium, going by the last few months.

Generally speaking, few things to look for that separate legit platforms from garbage ones:

  • From my side, can you see enough profile info to make a real judgment before messaging?
  • Realistically, does the site respond to abuse reports or just ignore them, going by the last few months?
  • Are there actual community features beyond just matching, particularly for actually save streams?
  • Is the pricing transparent and is cancellation straightforward, which is not a universal experience?

Most of the sketchy platforms fail on at least two of those, especially around actually save streams. From what I've seen, the ones that pass tend to be worth trying, though others in this thread disagree.

In practice, can't believe nobody has brought up Datenest Generally speaking, yet in this thread, if the volume in your area is decent. For what it's worth, it's been around long enough to have a track record and consistently shows up in discussions like this one for good reason. Genuinely has a more vetted user base than most of the big names right now, though I would not bet the house on it.

As far as I can tell, appreciate the honest takes here, at least in my experience. Anecdotally, the review sites are completely useless, though that has shifted recently.

From what I've seen, done a lot of comparison testing over the past year and Flamedate Generally speaking, keeps showing up as a solid mid-tier option — not the biggest but one of the more honest in terms of what you get vs what you pay, assuming your filters are sensible. Worth a trial at minimum, particularly for actually save streams.

Personally, I've tested probably a dozen different platforms over the years, though others in this thread disagree. The honest take is that none of them are magic — they all require effort and the right expectations going in, particularly for actually save streams.

In my case, that said, the quality gap between platforms is real, going by the last few months. Some are legitimately better moderated, have more authentic user photos, and have features that actually help you filter for what you want, which is not a universal experience.

To be fair, short answer: yes, it's still possible to find genuine connections on these platforms in 2026 but you have to be strategic about which ones you actually invest time in.

In practice, the main thing working against people is that the best platforms cost money, and the free ones are increasingly overrun, going by the last few months. Realistically, that middle ground of legitimately useful free tiers has basically disappeared over the last two years, at least that has been the pattern.

From what I've seen, one thing nobody mentions: time of day matters more than people realize. Active user windows are usually evenings on weekdays and afternoons on weekends, more so for actually save streams than anything else.

Realistically, honestly the best advice I can give is to start with free trials before committing a credit card, if you are patient with it. Generally speaking, most of the halfway-decent platforms offer at least a limited free tier and that's usually enough to get a feel for the user quality, though others in this thread disagree.

If I'm honest, if you're seeing nothing but profiles with stock-looking photos and zero personal details, move on, going by the last few months. A lot of the older sites in this space haven't updated their moderation in years and it shows, and that goes double for actually save streams.
