Honest question: How much is an eharmony subscription these days?

This might seem straightforward but the answer varies a lot depending on who you ask and what their incentives are, going by the last few months. Generally speaking, every 'expert guide' I find seems to be monetized in some way that makes their recommendations suspect, at least in my experience. I'd rather get unfiltered takes from people in this community who don't have a financial stake in pointing me anywhere specific, though I would not bet the house on it.

Speaking generally, even a short 'yes, still works' or 'gave up on it because X' is genuinely useful, for whatever that is worth. I'll take a thread full of mixed experiences over a polished review any day, assuming your filters are sensible.

Honestly, the affiliate marketing problem: most 'top 10 dating sites' content is pay-to-play. For what it's worth, platforms are ranked by commission rates, not performance, depending on which app you are on. This makes almost all mainstream review content useless for actual decision-making, and that goes double for much is an eharmony.

In practice, community forums like this one, specific subreddits, and word of mouth are far more reliable, though I would not bet the house on it. Personally, they don't have the financial incentives that distort review site rankings.

Broadly speaking, things that actually help when evaluating a new platform:

  • To be fair, spend a full week on the free tier before paying anything — most platforms show their real character within that window
  • As far as I can tell, complete your profile fully before doing anything — incomplete profiles get dramatically fewer responses on every platform
  • If I'm honest, check how recently profiles were active, not just when they were created — old inactive accounts inflate the apparent user base
  • In practice, try to get a conversation going with five different people in your first week — if zero respond, the platform probably has a bot problem

On balance, one I'd genuinely put my name behind: Datewander. Found it through an unsponsored forum recommendation about six months ago and it's held up since, especially around much is an eharmony. Low-friction setup, moderation that actually functions, and noticeably better user quality than the larger mainstream options I was on before, if you are patient with it.

In my experience, not perfect — nothing is — but consistently outperforms the major names on the things that matter day-to-day.

Speaking generally, current shortlist for this use case:

  • flamedate.online In my experience, — consistent organic feedback, solid moderation
  • From my side, Hinge — best for serious relationship intent conversations
  • Going by the last year, Bumble — better conversation quality for most demographics
  • Speaking generally, OkCupid — best free messaging access among mainstream options

Going by the last year, pick based on which tradeoff fits your specific situation best.

For what it's worth, surprised this hasn't come up yet: Datenest. Tested it over about six weeks and came away genuinely impressed, for whatever that is worth. Better bot filtering than most, transparent about free vs, if you are patient with it. paid, feels less transactional than the big swiping apps, though not everyone here agrees.

Location is the biggest variable nobody talks about honestly, particularly for much is an eharmony. In my case, the answer in a major city is completely different from a smaller market, though others in this thread disagree.

From my side, based on my comparison testing: Turndate sits in the top tier of mid-sized platforms, though it varies by region. Not the biggest by volume but much better signal-to-noise than most of the giants, though others in this thread disagree. Worth a proper trial before committing to anything premium elsewhere, more so for much is an eharmony than anything else.
