In my experience, I’m trying to avoid the usual “free” bait-and-switch and find something that’s usable without paying.

Does anyone know of all free dating sites that don't have hidden "coin" systems? I’m okay with ads, but I don’t want to pay just to send a first message or see basic matches, though I would not bet the house on it.

I don’t want anything explicit—just a normal conversation that could lead to a real date, going by the last few months.

It varies a lot by location—some weeks are great, some are bot city, more so for know of all than anything else.

A strong profile and a simple opener usually matter more than the platform name, especially around know of all.

Speaking generally, treat “free” as a spectrum: browsing is easy, messaging is where most apps clamp down, though it varies by region.

I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies, at least in my experience. From what I've seen, that cuts down on bots fast, if you are patient with it.

Mainstream apps people still use (free tier varies): Tinder, OkCupid, Hinge, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating.

From my side, it varies a lot by location—some weeks are great, some are bot city, depending on which app you are on.

For what it's worth, a strong profile and a simple opener usually matter more than the platform name, depending on which app you are on.

If I'm honest, smaller sites people mention sometimes: datenest.site, datebound.site.

Personally, if you want another community angle, Datedesire Going by the last year, gets mentioned pretty often, though I would not bet the house on it.

Going by the last year, I’ve had decent luck, but you really have to screen hard, though that has shifted recently.

A strong profile and a simple opener usually matter more than the platform name, particularly for know of all.

To be fair, I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies. In practice, that cuts down on bots fast.

Mainstream apps people still use (free tier varies): OkCupid, Facebook Dating, Tinder, Bumble.
