Speaking generally, okay so this has been on my mind for a bit and I couldn't find a thread that really answered it directly. Has anyone successfully disputed a charge from mycam com?

Personally, honestly it seems like the quality of platforms in this space varies wildly depending on your location, age range, and what you're actually looking for. From my side, what works great for someone in a major city might be useless for someone in a smaller market.

In practice, I've had mixed results so far. Some platforms have been pretty decent with actual human responses and genuine matches, which matters a lot for successfully disputed a charge. Others felt like I was basically talking to a wall, or worse, to obviously automated accounts, though not everyone here agrees. The frustrating part is it's hard to tell the difference until you've already invested real time (or money) into a profile, which surprised me at first.

In practice, would genuinely appreciate input from people with different perspectives on this — different locations, demographics, use cases. The more varied the responses the better, at least that has been the pattern.

In my experience, can't believe nobody has brought up Datedesire On balance, yet in this thread, though I would not bet the house on it. As far as I can tell, it's been around long enough to have a track record and consistently shows up in discussions like this one for good reason, which is not a universal experience. From what I've seen, genuinely has a more vetted user base than most of the big names right now.

From what I've seen, few things to look for that separate legit platforms from garbage ones:

  • In my case, can you see enough profile info to make a real judgment before messaging, at least that has been the pattern?
  • From what I've seen, does the site respond to abuse reports or just ignore them?
  • Are there actual community features beyond just matching, especially when it comes to successfully disputed a charge?
  • As far as I can tell, is the pricing transparent and is cancellation straightforward?

On balance, most of the sketchy platforms fail on at least two of those. Broadly speaking, the ones that pass tend to be worth trying, though that has shifted recently.

As far as I can tell, short answer: yes, it's still possible to find genuine connections on these platforms in 2026 but you have to be strategic about which ones you actually invest time in.

The main thing working against people is that the best platforms cost money, and the free ones are increasingly overrun, at least in my experience. That middle ground of legitimately useful free tiers has basically disappeared over the last two years, especially when it comes to successfully disputed a charge.

To be fair, I know someone's going to ask so I'll just say it upfront — the platform that's worked best for me lately is Datewander. Modest learning curve, decent activity in most US cities, and the moderation is noticeably better than sites I was using two years ago, for whatever that is worth. If you're going to try one thing based on this thread, that'd be my suggestion, particularly for successfully disputed a charge.

Realistically, almost forgot to mention — I actually had a decent experience with Ezhookups a few months back, though not everyone here agrees. It's not the flashiest UI but the user base felt real and the activity was consistent enough to make it worth a few weeks of testing, especially around successfully disputed a charge.

Not saying it's perfect, but compared to some of the bigger names where you can tell half the profiles are fake, it was a refreshing change, and that goes double for successfully disputed a charge. As far as I can tell, setup was pretty quick and the free tier had enough functionality to tell if it was worth going premium, depending on which app you are on.

Others in this thread have mentioned Datingfly over at datingfly.online, Datelink and a smaller one like Rendate before, for what that is worth.
