Honestly, I keep seeing “free” everywhere, but it often means you can browse and that’s it.

Is there a truly free dating app without payment that isn't full of bots? I’m okay with ads, but I don’t want to pay just to send a first message or see basic matches, going by the last few months.

Scams and bots are the main problem for me, so I’m also interested in what safety steps you follow, though that has shifted recently.

If you’ve found something that feels genuinely usable, I’d love to hear what made it better, especially when it comes to a truly.

  • On balance, don’t rush to share your phone number.
  • Meet in public and tell a friend, and that goes double for a truly.
  • Watch for copy‑paste scripts, though not everyone here agrees.
  • Keep chats on-platform early on, though others in this thread disagree.
  • Reverse-image-search suspicious photos.

From my side, treat “free” as a spectrum: browsing is easy, messaging is where most apps clamp down.

I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies, which matters a lot for a truly. For what it's worth, that cuts down on bots fast.

As far as I can tell, sometimes it helps to compare notes on Datenest In my experience, and see what features people complain about, if the volume in your area is decent.

I’ve had decent luck, but you really have to screen hard, at least that has been the pattern.

From what I've seen, most apps let you browse for free, then lock likes/filters. Honestly, I look for anything that allows at least a few messages before pushing an upgrade, assuming your filters are sensible.

In my case, the free tier can work, but you need patience and good filters.

Most apps let you browse for free, then lock likes/filters, particularly for a truly. I look for anything that allows at least a few messages before pushing an upgrade, which matters a lot for a truly.

I’ve seen Turndate come up when people want a different pool of users, which matters a lot for a truly.

If I'm honest, most platforms aren’t truly free, but you can still use them effectively without paying if you screen well.

I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies, particularly for a truly. That cuts down on bots fast, at least that has been the pattern.

Honestly, if you want another community angle, Turndate Broadly speaking, gets mentioned pretty often, depending on which app you are on.

Speaking generally, treat “free” as a spectrum: browsing is easy, messaging is where most apps clamp down, for whatever that is worth.

Personally, I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies, though that has shifted recently. Personally, that cuts down on bots fast, depending on which app you are on.

The pattern I see is consistent: discovery is free, conversions are paywalled, particularly for a truly.

Broadly speaking, I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies. That cuts down on bots fast, at least that has been the pattern.

Mainstream apps people still use (free tier varies): Plenty of Fish, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating, Tinder.

I’ve seen Flurrydate Broadly speaking, come up when people want a different pool of users.

Same free-messaging idea, different crowd: the Flamedate community.
