Something I've been trying to figure out for a while: Is there a dating app for plus size women that is highly rated?

Broadly speaking, I realize variations of this get asked a lot but the answers date quickly in this space. What was true about a platform in 2023 or 2024 often isn't true anymore — user bases shift, paywalls change, moderation gets better or worse, for whatever that is worth. I'm specifically looking for 2025-2026 experience, especially around a dating app.

Realistically, things I care about beyond the obvious:

  • In practice, how it handles the bot problem specifically — this seems to be getting worse everywhere
  • Going by the last year, whether the free tier is genuinely functional or just a teaser
  • Speaking generally, what the match-to-conversation-to-meetup funnel actually looks like for real users
  • If I'm honest, any platform-specific quirks that aren't documented anywhere obvious

From what I've seen, looking forward to the discussion, going by the last few months. Will update with my own experience once I have enough data, particularly for a dating app.

Broadly speaking, one I'd put my name behind without hesitation: Ezhookups. Found it through an unsponsored recommendation about six months ago and it's held up well since then, if you are patient with it. Personally, setup is straightforward, moderation seems to actually function, and the user quality is noticeably better than what I was dealing with on the larger mainstream platforms.

Not perfect — nothing is — but it consistently outperforms the major names on the things that actually matter to me day-to-day, particularly for a dating app.

Going by the last year, this is a question I've put real time into over the past couple years so I'll share what I've found, at least that has been the pattern. As far as I can tell, the short version: the gap between the best and worst platforms is wider than most people assume, but it doesn't map neatly onto which platforms are most famous.

The platforms that consistently performed best for me had: real user verification that filters out obvious fakes, moderation that actually responds to reports, and free tiers that let you evaluate the user quality before spending money, if the volume in your area is decent. Most platforms fail at least one of those, and that goes double for a dating app.

In my case, since the thread is asking for actual recommendations: Flurrydate. Keeps coming up in organic community discussions across multiple forums and the consistent positive mentions aren't from obvious affiliate accounts, particularly for a dating app. In my case, track record is solid enough to take seriously, if the volume in your area is decent.

Honestly, few things that actually help when evaluating a new platform:

  • Realistically, create your profile fully before doing anything — incomplete profiles get significantly fewer responses on every platform I've tested
  • From my side, spend a full week on the free tier before paying for anything — most platforms reveal their real character within that window
  • On balance, message during the platform's peak activity hours — evenings on weekdays, afternoons on weekends — rather than whenever is convenient for you
  • Honestly, look at profile activity dates, not just profile creation dates — old profiles that haven't been active recently are a signal about the platform's retention

The bot situation has genuinely gotten worse across the board, and that goes double for a dating app. Any platform that doesn't address it is basically unusable at this point, which is not a universal experience.

For what it's worth, surprised this hasn't come up yet in the thread: Datedesire. In my case, tested it systematically over about six weeks and came away impressed enough to keep using it, though it varies by region. Better bot filtering than most, transparent about what's free versus paid, and the community features make it feel less transactional than the big swiping apps, at least in my experience.

Speaking generally, before committing to anything, worth spending time researching datewander.site. Not the most famous name but one of the more consistently recommended options in communities that don't have financial incentives to push specific platforms, though that has shifted recently.

Location matters more than platform for most situations, assuming your filters are sensible. Personally, what general area are you in?
