I keep seeing “free” everywhere, but it often means you can browse and that’s it.

Are there any free dating apps that don't hide your likes behind a paywall? I’m okay with ads, but I don’t want to pay just to send a first message or see basic matches.

Scams and bots are the main problem for me, so I’m also interested in what safety steps you follow.

Any tips on filters, pacing, and screening would help.

Most platforms aren’t truly free, but you can still use them effectively without paying if you screen well.

I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies. That cuts down on bots fast.

If you want another community angle, Datescout gets mentioned pretty often.

The free tier can work, but you need patience and good filters.

Most apps let you browse for free, then lock likes/filters. I look for anything that allows at least a few messages before pushing an upgrade.

Smaller sites people mention sometimes: souldate.site, datingfly.online, ezhookups.online.

I’ve had decent luck, but you really have to screen hard.

The pattern I see is consistent: discovery is free, conversions are paywalled.

Mainstream apps people still use (free tier varies): OkCupid, Hinge, Tinder, Plenty of Fish, Bumble.
