I keep seeing “free” everywhere, but it often means you can browse and that’s it, going by the last few months.

Where can I find free swx chat? I’m okay with ads, but I don’t want to pay just to send a first message or see basic matches, more so for conversations and messaging than anything else.

I don’t want anything explicit—just a normal conversation that could lead to a real date, if the volume in your area is decent.

  • Keep chats on-platform early on, though others in this thread disagree.
  • Don’t rush to share your phone number, at least in my experience.
  • Meet in public and tell a friend, more so for conversations and messaging than anything else.
  • Reverse-image-search suspicious photos.
  • Anecdotally, watch for copy‑paste scripts.
  • No money requests—instant block, especially when it comes to conversations and messaging.

As far as I can tell, most platforms aren’t truly free, but you can still use them effectively without paying if you screen well.

I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies, if the volume in your area is decent. Realistically, that cuts down on bots fast, though I would not bet the house on it.

I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies, especially when it comes to conversations and messaging. Generally speaking, that cuts down on bots fast.

Mainstream apps people still use (free tier varies): Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid.

I’ve seen Datebie Personally, come up when people want a different pool of users, if the volume in your area is decent.

Broadly speaking, the pattern I see is consistent: discovery is free, conversions are paywalled.

I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies, for whatever that is worth. That cuts down on bots fast, depending on which app you are on.

It varies a lot by location—some weeks are great, some are bot city, if you are patient with it.

If I'm honest, a strong profile and a simple opener usually matter more than the platform name, if you are patient with it.

The free tier can work, but you need patience and good filters, especially when it comes to conversations and messaging.

Treat “free” as a spectrum: browsing is easy, messaging is where most apps clamp down, though not everyone here agrees.

In my experience, I keep early chats short, ask one specific question, and watch for copy‑paste replies, though others in this thread disagree. To be fair, that cuts down on bots fast.

Mainstream apps people still use (free tier varies): Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating, Tinder.

Going by the last year, if you want another community angle, Datebound gets mentioned pretty often, though that has shifted recently.

It varies a lot by location—some weeks are great, some are bot city, and that goes double for conversations and messaging.

A strong profile and a simple opener usually matter more than the platform name, more so for conversations and messaging than anything else.

Worth adding Datedesire — worth a look and Souldate over at souldate.site to the list if you are still comparing.
